How the calculator works
Count follows the standard height rule: 2 hinges up to 60″, 3 to 90″, 4 to 120″, plus one for each additional 30″. Heavy or solid-core doors get a recommendation to add a hinge or move to heavy-weight ball-bearing models. Size follows the thickness-and-width sizing chart most installers use.

Why does my heavy door get an extra hinge?
